My third grade class is amazing. They love to learn and try new things. We are working hard this year in all subjects. We are striving to achieve and do our very best.
Class Announcements New Race/Ethnicity Data CollectionDear Springwoods Parent/Guardian:
Your child was recently given a form for you to fill out and return that asks for your child’s race and ethnicity. The collection of this information is mandated by the federal government, which has revised the criteria of these data. A letter of explanation was included with the form but more information can be found on the PWCS Web site at: http://www.pwcs.edu/news2/announcements/351-federalethnicityreporting.html.
Please complete parts A and B of the form, sign and date it at the bottom, and return it to your homeroom class by Friday, March 19th.
As called for in the new federal requirements, if the forms are not completed by parents/guardians, then a staff member will observe and select racial and ethnic categories on the student’s behalf. These data are being collected for students in grades PK-8 right away, since we will begin scheduling elementary and middle school students for the 2010-11 school year in April.

VolunteersI need volunteers to practice multiplication facts with the students. If you are available during the day, please let me know. This really helps students master their multiplication facts.
Winter PartyThe winter party for our class will be on Wednesday, December 23 from 10:00 - 11:15. A note will be coming home on Monday about the party. If you would like to donate anything or would like to help at the party, please fill out the note and send it into school.
Book OrdersI sent a Scholastic book order home today. It is due by December 1. If you would like to purchase books from the book order, you can fill out the order form and send a check made payable to Scholastic. You can also go online to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs to place your order. The username is mrskittasclass and the password is Kitta. If you would like to purchase books as gifts, please let me know and I will contact you when the books are delivered.
